“ Niagara Region Public Health has been the beneficiary of the generosity of the Wise Guys Charity’s dedicated, caring volunteers and business partners regarding development of the Health Bus initiative. In particular Chuck Smith’s vision and energy were instrumental in providing support and encouragement for the initiation of outreach public health care service to vulnerable, marginalized individuals in Niagara. The Health Bus initiative has also enabled Niagara Region Public Health to maintain current and build new partnerships with numerous community organizations that serve this priority population. The Health Bus is but one example of how the Wise Guys Charity has responded to the needs of disadvantaged residents of the Niagara community. A number of Health Bus clients have cited how services provided on the bus assisted and supported them to make decisions toward a healthy lifestyle. NRPH wishes continued success for the Wise Guys Charity in pursuit of this benevolent mission. ”

“ Each year, through the support of the Wise Guys Charity, more and more children from St. Catharines who face financial challenges are able to take part in sports, recreation and cultural activities. Children need these types of activities to grow and develop. We’re thankful to Wise Guys for their investment in the future of our community. ”

“ The Wise Guys Charity is a truly unique community partner. Their support over the years to grassroots organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters St. Catharines-Thorold has been vital to sustaining our Mentoring programs. Their support for our two new programs such as Big Bunch & Go Girls! enabled us to reach many more young people who would otherwise not have the opportunity to participate. We are privileged they value and support the work we do with Niagara’s children. On behalf of everyone at Big Brothers Big Sisters our heartfelt congratulations on your twenty years of helping us to grow and thrive. ”

“ This letter is to acknowledge the tremendous accomplishments of the Wise Guys Charity for its 20 years of giving back to the communities throughout Niagara. We are especially grateful to the Wise Guys’ for their major gift commitment in support of the development of the new Walker Family Cancer Centre through the Niagara Health System’s It’s Our Time Campaign. Their support will assist the Niagara Health System in accomplishing its vision of bringing urgently needed healthcare programs, such as radiation treatment, closer to home for everyone in Niagara! Their on-going contributions to many charities are a reflection of their continued work as true community builders. Betty Lou, on behalf of the Board of Directors of the NHS Foundation please accept and convey our congratulations to all the Wise Guys (and Gals). ”

“ The Heart and Stroke Foundation funds life-saving research, health education and advocates for social change. To do this the charity coordinates 10 fundraising programs such as The Heart & Stroke Big Bike (a 29 seat bike companies as it visits each community in Niagara), Pedal 100 a long-distance cycling event, Jump Rope for Heart and other events. In the mid-90's the Wise Guys generously provided the Foundation with a new Van! This vehicle acted as a much needed resource to haul various event day supplies, it was driven in front of the Big Bike to ensure the safety of event participants. The Niagara Heart and Stroke Foundation gratefully acknowledges this generous contribution to the Foundation and it made a difference for our participants.' ”

“ For many years the Wise Guys have been strong supporters of children with special needs by providing funding to support the therapeutic pool programs at Niagara Peninsula Children’s Centre. The Centre’s pool programs provide therapy and recreational services to hundreds of children who have physical and developmental disabilities. Without Wise Guys support the Children’s Centre pool programs would have to be greatly reduced or eliminated. ”

“ On behalf of Bethlehem Projects of Niagara, I would like to congratulate Wise Guys Charity for their 20 years of giving back to the community. They have certainly lived up to their mission “to improve the quality of life within the Niagara Region”. Their fundraising efforts have resulted in more than $1.5 million being donated to local charities. Thanks to the support of Wise Guys Charity Fund and others in the community, we have seen our dream of building a 40 unit affordable, supportive apartment building in St. Catharines become a reality. Following this success we are nearing completion of a similar building in Niagara Falls and again Wise Guys Charity has stepped up to the plate with a substantial pledge to make this possible. We wish Wise Guys Charity continued success for many years to come and applaud their ongoing commitment to improving life in their community. ”

“ Red Roof Retreat provides programs for children and young adults with special needs in the Niagara Region. As a new charity, Wise Guys Charity readily saw the need for what we did, and were instrumental in helping us purchase a wheelchair accessible van and promote our work. Again this year, they were one of the first and most generous to help build an accessible playground. It's such a honour to be backed by a group of people who work tirelessly to support us, so that we can in turn can help others. Saying "Thank you" never seems like enough, but we are deeply honoured to be recognized by the Wise Guys. ”
