Hair-Raising Ride for Wise Guys

“ Niagara Region Public Health has been the beneficiary of the generosity of the Wise Guys Charity’s dedicated, caring volunteers and business partners regarding development of the Health Bus initiative. In particular Chuck Smith’s vision and energy were instrumental in providing support and encouragement for the initiation of outreach public health care service to vulnerable, marginalized individuals in Niagara. The Health Bus initiative has also enabled Niagara Region Public Health to maintain current and build new partnerships with numerous community organizations that serve this priority population. The Health Bus is but one example of how the Wise Guys Charity has responded to the needs of disadvantaged residents of the Niagara community. A number of Health Bus clients have cited how services provided on the bus assisted and supported them to make decisions toward a healthy lifestyle. NRPH wishes continued success for the Wise Guys Charity in pursuit of this benevolent mission. ”

“ The Heart and Stroke Foundation funds life-saving research, health education and advocates for social change. To do this the charity coordinates 10 fundraising programs such as The Heart & Stroke Big Bike (a 29 seat bike companies as it visits each community in Niagara), Pedal 100 a long-distance cycling event, Jump Rope for Heart and other events. In the mid-90's the Wise Guys generously provided the Foundation with a new Van! This vehicle acted as a much needed resource to haul various event day supplies, it was driven in front of the Big Bike to ensure the safety of event participants. “ For many years the Wise Guys have been strong supporters of children with special needs by providing funding to support the therapeutic pool programs at Niagara Peninsula Children’s Centre. The Centre’s pool programs provide therapy and recreational services to hundreds of children who have physical and developmental disabilities. Without Wise Guys support the Children’s Centre pool programs would have to be greatly reduced or eliminated. ”
